Fairfield HS ACT-SO win big at NAACP Competition. Next Stop - Nationals

ACT-SO is an acronym for the Academic, Cultural, Technical and Scientific Olympics "of the mind." The program, now a one-of-its-kind class at Fairfield, encourages high academic and cultural achievement among African American students. Students  use class and after school time to create projects in performing arts, visual arts, entrepreneurship, humanities and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), and then present them in regional competition. The goal is to earn a placement in the national spotlight as a presenter at the NAACP national convention.

NAACP leaders from Ohio and Cincinnati visited the class, met with students earlier in the school year to see the beginning stages of their projects. They called the inaugural class "groundbreaking." Fairfield is believed to be the only high school in the nation to have an ACT-SO class.
